KendriyaVidyalaya Sangathan,a pace setting institution in the field of education established a KendriyaVidyalaya at Hathimatha, near Kokrajhar town in the year 1984 with a view to catering to the educational needs of various ethnic groups in this remote location. Ever since its inception, this Vidyalaya grew in width and strength and it was shifted to its present campus near Titaguri bazar, about 5 kms from the district headquarters after the formal inauguration of its permanent building in a vast expanse of 35 bighas of land in September 2008.It is a Civil Sector school sponsored by the Govt. of Assam. The Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar District is the ex-officio Chairman of its Vidyalaya Management Committee. The school is approximately 2 kms away from the BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) secretariat. The Vidyalaya has classes from I to XII (Science Stream). In order to accommodate the growing demand for admissions, the Vidyalaya was upgraded to a Double-Section school in 2017. It has a vast playground with facilities for football, cricket, volley ball and table tennis, a Children’s Park with multiple play equipment for the tiny tots and a Digital Language Lab for the middle school children in addition to the other facilities available in all Kendriya Vidyalayas. The student enrolment at present is 803 and the staff strength is 24
The Vidyalaya has very good road, rail and air connectivity; it is situated on the state highway (JD Road), 5 kms away from Kokrajhar railway station, 3-4 hour’s journey from Guwahati airport and 1 hour from the Rupsi airport.
